 Is my home suited to solar power or a wind generator?  To get a basic idea, ask yourself these questions: 

 Wind:

-         Is there a spot in the yard with no obstructions (trees, buildings) for a 300-foot radius?

-         If not, how tall must my tower be to get 30 above the top of the tallest obstacle within 300’ of the tower?

-         Can I site the tower such that it can never fall across a property line?

-         Do I need my neighbors’ approval?

 Solar:

-         Do I have a south-facing roof surface or an opening in the yard with an unobstructed view to the south?

-         If not, do I mind the appearance of having panels on the roof mounted visibly, not flush with the roof but tilted to the south?

-         Do I have any neighborhood covenants that restrict solar installations?
