What is the Solar Promise?

Our solar promise to you is that your system will yield the benefits we promised on the day we sold it to you, or we will make up the difference.

When you invest in a renewable energy system, there are environmental and financial benefits.  But to obtain those benefits, your system has to produce all the power it can.  At GAi, if we promise you a certain level of performance, we stand behind our promise.

Environmental Benefits:

For every kWh of coal-generated electricity you consume, 2.3 pounds of CO2 is released to the atmosphere.  That means generating just 500 kWh/year renewably prevents the release of 1 ton of CO2.  This doesn’t even consider any of the other harmful byproducts of coal combustion, like sulfurous compounds, mercury, and more.  You CAN make a difference.  A TON of difference! 

Financial Benefits:

For every kWh you make instead of buy, your utility bill goes down.  The money you put into the system pays for itself through this cost avoidance.  If you can’t pay for the system before the warranty expires, you take a financial risk.  If you fall behind in estimated production in the first 5 years of service life, your payback date moves out drastically.  

That’s why it is so important to have confidence in the system’s capability to harness the available renewable resource.  GAi can make very accurate projections and stand behind them.  How?

-         System design expertise – we perfectly match your system components for maximum efficiency.  Our design team boasts over 50 years of electrical design & engineering.

-         Site assessment – we gather solmetric data at your specific site that allows pinpoint accuracy of your available sun resource.  We feed that data into a specialized software application to determine the impact of trees and nearby structures on your system production.

-         Data - We base our predicitons on existing data.  Not only regional data from Department of Energy, but live data from our own solar installations in N. Central Indiana

Solar Promise Program Details

When you have GAi install a solar array for you, we promise the following:

-      Every year, your system will produce what we promised it would.

-      If your system produces less than our estimate for any of the first 5 years in service, GAi will refund the difference in your energy savings.

 Example:

-          Your current electricity rate from the utility is $0.12 / kWh (for example)

-          GAi predicts that your 1 kW system will produce 1,350 kWh/yr

-          In the first year, your system produces only 1,250 kWh, a 100 kWh difference

-          GAi refunds you 100 * $0.12, or $12 of the savings you did not obtain, no hassle.

Program Requirements:

1. System design, hardware, and installation must all be purchased through Green Alternatives, Inc, Kokomo, IN, between June 23, 2010, and December 31, 2010
2. Each system must include a data monitor
3. The customer must agree to an annual maintenance schedule, or contract Green Alternatives to perform periodic cleaning of the panel surfaces
4. Production averages will be calculated annually for five (5) years from the initial date of installation. 
5. The customer agrees to allow Green Alternatives, Inc. access to the system for inspection in the event of any data anomaly detected via the monitoring equipment.
6. The rate used to calculate savings will be fixed when the purchase agreement is signed, and will be based on data from the customer’s most recent electric bill.
7. The customer will allow the production data from their system to be used in Green Alternatives’ future reference materials.  Only the data will be referenced (production vs. projected production, system maintenance requirements, etc.).  No personal data (name, address) may be shared with any third party without a further written release from the customer.  
8. Adjustment or removal of any portion of the system (for example, when doing roof work) by parties other than Green Alternatives, Inc or their designee will nullify the Solar Promise and potentially void the system warranty.
